What's In My Bag: Jamie

I'm nosy to a fault when it comes to people's personal belongings, so it's no surprise that one of my favorite things to do is peruse the internet and find out what is in a person's home, closet and bag. I love the way even the smallest detail reflects an individual's personality, and in that spirit, I decided to begin the newest Troc blog series - What's In My Bag! While I'm most excited to see what my fellow interns tote around all day (especially Jared, whose petite frame is almost always dwarfed by his fabulous oversize LAMB bag, purchased from the Troc) I suppose it's only fair that I start it off!

The bag: This cute cognac satchel from Target. Basically looks like a really fake, pared-down Proenza Schouler PS1 but it's a great size and it was $35, so it works until I can buy the real thing (which retails for almost $2000).

Contents (clockwise, starting in the top left):

- Drugstore sunglasses

- MZ Wallace "Bettie" pouch, available at Trocadero: The absolute perfect size to hold my Blackberry and a couple of credit cards, in a pretty platinum leather.

- Car keys: Includes my prized possession, the elusive pink cupcake Yummy Breakfast keychain

- Colgate Wisps: I eat out a lot and am rarely home during the day, so I never get my mid-day brush in. Trying these out, although I use them in the restaurant bathroom and still have to rinse my mouth out with water. Tastes almost too authentically like toothpaste.

- Flip & Tumble bag, available at Trocadero: Because I am always picking something up here or there and prefer these super-portable reusable bags.

- Rings: If I leave the house without a piece of jewelry on I feel naked. These two are from Target.

- JPT notebook from Trocadero: My thoughts would be scattered onto receipts if I wasn't well-stocked with notebooks from the Troc.

- Maybelline "The Falsies" Mascara: Basically does what the name implies...I love it, this is my second tube.

- EOS lip balm sphere: I am ADDICTED to these. They come in four colors/flavors - I had three of them and stumbled on the fourth in Walgreens a couple of days ago and had to purchase it. This one is sweet mint. The formula is great and I can't tell you what fun I have putting on egg-shaped lip balm.

- Lipsticks: Revlon's Super Lustrous Lipstick in Primrose and another one in Peach. I think Revlon lipsticks are fairly good for the price.

- Laura Mercier tinted moisturizer: This is mostly in my bag because its warming up a bit and it is a key part of my spring/summer makeup routine. I love tinted moisturizer when the weather is nice, and this one is better than any other one I've tried.

- Archipelago Pomegranate hand cream, available at Trocadero: One of our all-time best selling products, and once you try it you know why.

- NYX The Runway Collection eyeshadow pallet: NYX eyeshadows are inexpensive and easy to apply - this one has great shades to go from day to night in a flash.

- Sonia Kashuk for Target travel brush set: Picked this up the other day and it's been incredible to just throw in my bag for any quick makeup changes. It's basically the size of a clutch, however, so I only carry it if I'm lugging around a bigger bag.

Stay tuned to see what the rest of the Troc staff carries in their bags!

Oscars 2011 Recap: My 5 Best Dressed, Take Three

Another year, another best dressed list! This year's Oscars had no shortage of colorful ensembles, but as a whole the crop of dresses were less than impressive. For me, the standouts were the ones that didn't pick typical gowns, with ladies like Jennifer Lawrence and Camilla Alves showing off their stunning figures in simple dresses.

1.) Jennifer Lawrence: Did YOU see Winter's Bone? This girl cleans up well...and she manages to go from a woodsy tomboy to a total Baywatch babe. I thought this dress was perfect for her - as a relative unknown, she comes off as impressive without even trying.

2.) Mila Kunis: I would have liked to see her a little more "Black Swan" than white swan but this dress is stunning on her and the color is flawless. I feel like I see a variation of this dress every year, but here I like the sheerness and the cut more than I have in seasons past.

3.) Cate Blanchett: THANK YOU FOR TAKING A STYLE RISK. This Givenchy gown is like an absolute work of art, and the look as a whole is a breath of fresh air. Love the fresh spring hues.

4.) Scarlett Johansson: I don't think this dress photographed as well as it looked on-screen but I remember seeing her on the red carpet and thinking she looked phenomenal. In this case, I really love the undone hair and the smoky eyes. She looked effortless sultry and sexy.

4.) Camilla Alves: I don't know what she does exactly, but she looked better than a large portion of the Oscar-nominated actresses. Proof that a simple black dress is never, ever a bad decision.

Oscars 2011 Recap: Top 5 Red Carpet Dresses

(click on the images to enlarge!)

Halle Berry was the picture of perfection in her nude, crystal encrusted Marchesa gown with an organza and silk tulle train.

Amy Adams looked gorgeous in her L'Wren Scott beaded gown complete with Cartier jewelry. The midnight blue and emerald color combination looked absolutely stunning!

Cate Blanchett may not always make the "best dressed" list due to her love of all things avante garde, however she looked perfectly graceful in her lilac haute couture Givenchy gown.

Gwyneth Paltrow was born for minimalism. She looked wonderfully sleek in her Calvin Klein column gown, complete with Louis Vuitton jewels and "Martina" pumps by one of Troc's favorite designers Brian Atwood.

Camila Alves looked simply classic and glamorous in her Kaufman Franco gown. The full skirt was refreshing to see amid a sea of body skimming gowns.
